The Alliance of National Heritage Areas – A membership organization created for congressionally designated National heritage Areas. The web site provides examples of best practices, information, news and updates, and a useful document library of member’s management plans and other heritage area studies.
George Wright Society – The society is the leading organization connecting people, places and ideas to foster excellence in natural and cultural resource management, research, planning and interpretation in parks and equivalent reserves.
The Practitioners’ Network for Large Landscape Conservation – The network is an alliance of professionals and citizens engaged in leading, managing, researching, advocating, funding, educating or setting policy to advance large landscape conservation initiatives
Lincoln Institute of Land Policy -The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy is a leading resource for key issues concerning the use, regulation, and taxation of land. Providing high-quality education and research, the Institute strives to improve public dialogue and decisions about land policy.
Maryland State Heritage Areas -Maryland’s Heritage Program has recognized 12 State Certified Heritage Areas where public and private partners make commitments to preserving historical, cultural and natural resources for sustainable economic development through heritage tourism.
National Landscape Conservation System– The mission of the National Landscape Conservation System, which is managed by the Bureau of Land Management, is to conserve, protect, and restore nationally significant landscapes that are recognized for their outstanding cultural, ecological, and scientific values. NLCS areas are part of an active, vibrant landscape where people live, work and play. They offer exceptional opportunities for recreation, solitude, wildlife viewing, exploring history, scientific research and a wide range of traditional uses.
National Trail System – The network of scenic, historic, and recreation trails created by the National Trails System Act of 1968. These trails provide for outdoor recreation needs, promote the enjoyment, appreciation, and preservation of open-air, outdoor areas and historic resources, and encourage public access and citizen involvement. The trails are managed by multiple federal agencies and many local partnership organizations.
National Trust for Historic Preservation -The National Trust for Historic Preservation provides leadership, education, advocacy, and resources to save America’s diverse historic places and revitalize our communities.
Regional Plan Association -Regional Plan Association is America’s oldest and most distinguished independent urban research and advocacy group. RPA prepares long range plans and policies to guide the growth and development of the New York- New Jersey-Connecticut metropolitan region. The association also provides leadership on national infrastructure, sustainability, and competitiveness concerns.
